What is a conductor?

Types of transmission line conductors

Solid conductor

It is used in electric substation bus but is used in short distance bus.

Hello conductor

It is also used in electric substation bus and is also used in short distance bus. Its length cannot be long. Because these wires are difficult to bend easily.

Stranded conductor

It is made of thin wire, due to which they can be easily folded. And they can be easily transported from one place to another.

AAC (All Aluminum Conductor)

These conductors are made of aluminum. Therefore, they are mostly used near waterlogged areas, as the AAC wire does not rust.

AAAC (All Aluminum Alloy Conductor)

AAAC wires are also made of aluminum, but aluminum is much more flexible, so some metal is added to them. Due to which their strength increases.

ACSR (aluminum conductor steel reinforced)

It is the most commonly used conductor. The wire between it is galvanized steel. Which greatly increases the robustness of the ASCR conductor.

Due to the use of steel in this conductor, it does not spread much when heated. For this reason, the gap between the two electric poles (Paul) can be kept wide. ASCR conductors are used on both high voltage lines and flame voltage lines.

ACSR Transmission Line Conductor Type

  • Dog - Conductors ranging from 33KV to 66KV are called dog conductors. Its carrying capacity is up to 300 amperes. It consists of 6 aluminum strands and 7 steel strands (wire).
  • Panther - It is used from 66KV to 132KV. It can provide current up to 480 amperes. It consists of 30 aluminum strands and 7 steel strands.
  • Zebra - Zebra conductor used for 220KV. It can be extended to 735 amperes. The zebra conductor consists of 54 aluminum strands and 7 steel strands.
  • Mousse - These conductors are used on a line of 220 kW or 440 kW voltage, which can be easily switched to over 800 amperes. It consists of 54 aluminum and 7 steel strands, like a zebra conductor. But the thickness of the strand in the moose conductor is greater than in the zebra conductor.

ACSS (aluminum conductor steel supported)

ACSS conductors have the ability to withstand more heat. When the current capacity on the wire increases, the temperature of the wire also increases.

Because the ACSS conductor can withstand temperatures up to 180 CELSIUS, while the ACSR conductor can withstand temperatures up to 100 CELSIUS.
