What is PPI 🔥Hearing about 4K playback, 4K recording and 4K display

What is PPI? Often people hear about Pixel Per Inch while purchasing SmartPhone, Laptop, TV. PPI's full name is Pixels Per Inch. Before knowing this, we must first know about pixels. On a TV, mobile or laptop screen display that outputs graphics.

What is PPI?

Those screens are made up of very small pixels. And in a screen, millions of pixels are set by a line. If we want to count it, count the vertical pixel from the edge and count the horizontal pixel from the top or bottom. As we can see, the resolution of this phone is 1920 x 1080, which we call full HD. Which is vertical pixel 1920 and horizontal pixel 1080.

Pixels are the individual dots that are used to create an image. Pixels are the basics building blocks of digital images

Resolution- Resolution helps tell how many pixels fit the screen.

720, 1280 And 1920 are the respective number of pixels that fit the screen horizontally.

576, 720 And 1080 are the respective number of pixels that fit the screen vertically.
Higher the resolution, finer the details you see in the image.

SD (Standard Definition) Display resolution have 720x576 pixels.

HD (High Definition) Display resolution have 1280x720 pixels. (HD Ready 1366x768 pixels.)

Full HD (Full High Definition) Display resolution have 1920x1080 pixels.

A pixel that is capable of showing any color in itself. And there are three sub pixels inside this one pixel. These are three RGB (light) pixels and these three pixels can show any color simultaneously.

Examples of pixels have been found from older Nokia phones. In which, if time is written, its pixel was visible. One more thing you can see Pixel but not Subpixel.

If someone says that the resolution of my phone is full HD, or 4K, is it an advantage when my phone is 5 inches in size. If you are given a phone with 4K resolution and full HD resolution, can you tell which phone has more clarity, not because after a limit, we don't see anything.

If we put more pixels in the small display, then its quality will not increase but it will affect the phone's battery.

If your phone is above 5 inches, if its resolution is full HD, then it is of excellent quality.

How to calculate display's PPI?

If a phone's resolution is 1920 x 1080 pixels, size 5 inches, what will be its PPI?
From the image above, you can learn how we can extract PPI using the math formula.

DP = density pixel - diagonal-sized pixels are called DP. That is, how many pixels are there in the size from one corner to the other. If the resolution of a device is 1920 x 1080 and the size is 5 inches, then the number of pixels facing it (diagonal) is 2,202.58 pixels.

There are 2MP (2 million pixels) in total pixels in full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution. 4K resolution consists of 8 million pixels (8MP = 4K)

4K is a 3840 x 2160 pixel resolution. The device with 4k resolution has been on the market for many years.

YouTube, the second largest search engine in the world, started uploading 4K videos in 2010. Earlier, Sony launched a 4K projector, 4K cameras also came on the market about 15 years ago. But because it is so valuable, people could not reach it, due to which very few people know it.

In 2015, the 4K name was greatly spread. This was because it became very cheap and was easily available to people.

4K playback, 4K recording and 4K display are all different things?

4K Playback - If your phone or TV display is not 4K, but it has 4K video playback then you can play 4k videos.

4k recording - if your camera records 4k video in 3840 x 2160 pixels, then only you can record 4K video.

4K Display - The resolution of a phone or TV display is 3840 x 2160 pixels i.e. the horizontal pixel of your phone or TV is 3840 and the vertical pixel is 2160, so your device can play full 4K resolution content.
